Should We Be Alarmed?

This is the future of our country. How Sad! Seriously, that kid needs a good ol' fashioned beating.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes:

-"I took mah Gramma cah cause I was mad at my mom. Den I saw'n had my friend com'n. And he smokes with cigarettes."

-"I hit da -- I yanked duh -- I yanked ... I yanked duh um thang."

-"I wanted to do it cause it's fun. It's fun to do bad thangs. And drive into a car."

Did you know you could perhaps kill somebody?

-"Yes, but I wanted to do hood rat stuff with my friend."

You don't think you should be punished for all of this?

-"Just a little bit, no video games for a whole weekend."

You understand that now your Gramma is going to have to pay to have those cars fixed?

-"Can mah mom helpah?"

More in Movie News.

I never wanted this to seem like a movie blog, but it seems like that is what I'm into these days. So please don't be offended if I write another blog about some upcoming movies that I can't stop thinking about. With that said, here's the list:

Where the Wild Things Are
My favorite book from my childhood is being made into a full length feature! I'm really excited about this. Apparently, it has been pushed back until 2009, so that they can do a lot of re-shooting. I'm willing to wait though, if it ensures that we get a quality movie.

The Hobbit (1 &2)
Holy Crap! I was so excited last night when I found this little nugget lurking in the depths of IMDB! This project has been pushed back due to disagreements with Peter Jackson's involvement, but I am confident that they cam e to a good compromise. Jackson is signed on as the Executive Producer, and they recruited Guillermo del Toro to direct. If you have seen Pan's Labyrinth than you will agree with me that this was a good move by New Line Cinema. My biggest fear was that these movies would lack cohesiveness with the trilogy. It doesn't seem to be the case though. Guillermo del Toro has a similar style to Jackson's and with Jackson overseeing the production, he will make sure that justice is done to these films.

The A Team
I'm not really sure that I would use the word "excited" to describe my anticipation for this movie, but I am definitely interested. This series is one of the only times when the last name "Murdock" has been given to a protagonist character, so my entire namesake is on the line here. Should I be more worried that they cast Woody Harrelson to play Murdock or that they cast Ice Cube to play Mr. T?

Alice In Wonderland
Slap the name "Tim Burton" on just about anything and I'll be there, and this movie will be no exception (Planet of the Apes was an exception). I'm really interested to see what he will bring to this story. Tim Burton has a way of bringing the dark undertones of any story to the surface, so it will be interesting to see which of the many undertones he brings out with this film. Just one question, Who will Johnny Depp play? (Mad Hatter)

X Men Origins: Wolverine
This movie is going to have the one thing that none of the previous X Men films had: Gambit! Hugh Jackman is coming back as Wolverine and Liev Schrieber is cast as Sabretooth. Seriously though, Gambit!

Other films that I am anticipating, but don't care to write about include:
Transformers 2
Jurassic Park 4 -bleh!
Spider Man 4
Get Smart

Let me know if I missed any.

Arrested Development Movie!

In 2006, when my most beloved show Arrested Development was canceled, there were rumors that they were going to do a movie. That seemed to me to be the light at the end of the tunnel, a way to reconcile the pain of watching the greatest sitcom since Seinfeld slip away into television history.

From time to time I have thought about the possibility of them doing a movie, but as time passed it seemed less and less plausible. But apparently the light at the end of my tunnel has been re-lit. My good friend Russ told me, and imdb confirmed it, that an Arrested Development movie is now officially in the works and scheduled for release in 2009!

E! did an interview with Jason Bateman, in which JB also confirmed their plans for a movie.

ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT star, Jason Batemen recently said, “I can confirm that a round of sniffing has started. Any talk is targeting a poststrike situation, of course. I think, as always, that it’s a question of whether the people with the money are willing to give our leader, Mitch Hurwitz, what he deserves for his participation. And I can speak for the cast when I say our fingers are crossed.”

I too, am going to keep my fingers crossed. Not just that the movie will receive the proper funding and commence production, but that enough people will support the film that maybe FOX will reconsider bringing it back for a fourth season.

a few changes

For quite a while I have been struggling with my blogging dilemma. I originally started the blog to let family and friends know what Annie and I are doing with ourselves in California. That was fine for a while, but I kept getting these urges to use the blog for my own purposes, which was difficult because the blog was under both mine and Annie's names. I felt like I needed to run everything by Annie before it could be posted (if her name was on it, she should know what she was endorsing). So in response to my ever growing need to rant, vent, share and inform, I started this blog.

This new blog will be my own forum to speak what I am thinking independent of Annie. But that is not to say that the other blog will be neglected. If Annie and I do something fun together, it will most definitely be posted there, and possibly here as well. My goal is to have to separate blogs for the two of us.
